Howard Industries, Inc. Announces Major Expansion of Mexico Manufacturing Operations
New state-of-the-art facility to strengthen global transformer supply and support grid expansion
Laurel, MS – Howard Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment, today announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing footprint with the development of a new, state-of-the-art facility in Mexico. The approximately $100 million investment underscores the company’s long-term commitment to supporting utilities, data centers, and energy storage providers as global demand for electrical infrastructure continues to grow.
The new facility will focus on the production of large three-phase distribution transformers ranging from 750 to 10,000 kVA, serving utilities, data centers, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) while helping strengthen and expand the electrical grid. Once complete, the plant will be one of the largest manufacturing facilities in the world dedicated to this product type.
Spanning approximately 825,000 square feet, the advanced manufacturing site is expected to be operational in the third quarter of this year. When operating at full capacity, the facility will employ more than 600 people, creating significant economic impact and high-quality manufacturing jobs in the region.
The Mexico plant will feature cutting-edge manufacturing and testing technology, including:
- Advanced laser systems
- A 500-ton press brake
- Washer and paint systems
- Vacuum chambers
- Electrical test stations
- Coil winding machines
- Coil manufacturing equipment
- And additional state-of-the-art production technologies
