Job Description

Howard Industries is the leading manufacturer of liquid-filled distribution transformers for the utility and commercial/industrial markets. Other utility products include small and medium power transformers, network transformers, voltage regulators, junction enclosures, sectionalizing equipment, and transformer components. Responsibilities

  • Basic Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Positive attitude
    • Ability to communicate well
    • Ability to use basic hand and power tools
    • Must be able do basic math functions, add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, fractions and decimals
    • Must be able to use measurement tools such as micrometer calipers and tape measures
    • Must be able to work overtime as necessary
    • Excellent attendance

Skills/Qualifications

  • Job Specific Requirements:

    At least one (1) year’s direct experience winding power transformer coils with the ability to perform the following:
    • Ability to read and interpret coil winding drawings/specifications
    • Ability to set up winding machine with winding cylinder/insulation package
    • Ability to load spools of wire onto dereelers with assistance using an overhead crane
    • Ability to winding single and multiple wire disk windings (with and without shield wires)
    • Ability to in winding both single and double helical (screw) windings
    • Ability to braze/solder copper wire using the equivalent of an oxyacetylene torch and silver solder filler
    • Assist other winders with their windings as needed

    Power Transformer Coil Winding Technicians:
    Same basic and job specific requirements as for the coil winder position plus:
    • At least three years of direct experience in winding power transformer coils
    • Ability to assist and train less experienced winders
